Principal's Message

Principal's Message

As principal of Mary McLeod Bethune Middle School and Math Science Magnet, it is an honor to serve the staff, supportive parents, and incredible students! Bethune Middle School – “Where the Best and the Brightest Attend, Teach and Serve” is “Blessed” with a rich history and committed community of stakeholders. We must be mindful that the simple essence of our work is building our student body and community with the “Strength to Love.” In Dr. King's words . . .

"Only through an inner spiritual transformation do we gain the strength

to fight vigorously the evils of the world in a humble and loving spirit."

We will have a year filled with new learning’s, activities, events and relationship building opportunities. We will continue the implementation of the Common Core State Standards with our teachers, staff, and students embracing the curriculum with enthusiasm. Our students are encouraged daily to put forth their best effort. We recognize the accomplishments of both our students and staff – “Together We Are Making a Positive Difference” for our community. Bethune is “A School Embraced by Love!” A place focusing on . . . Rigor – Relevance – Relationships.

To our 2018 graduates, I wish you much success as you prepare to enter high school, and then in whatever direction you take – whether it is continued education or the world of work. May you approach the next phase of your life with the mind set that “If You Believe It, You Can Achieve It” – because we believe in you! Seventh graders, I wish you a wonderful school year and look forward to seeing you all in the fall as our new leaders.

“Remember…If No One Told You They Love You Today, Dr. Garrett Loves You!”
